This post is ridiculously late but better late than never Yes?
Just a couple of weeks off the end of Africa’s Fashion Week London, a three day event that showcased the flair and craft in fashion from Africa was a huge success with over 10,000 guests in attendance. This event created an international platform for African Fashion to shine, dedicating the first two days of the event to students and young designers alike, there were also displays from Ghanian Accessories label SA4A, South African designs from Zandy B, Mtofo Designs, Bello DEsigns and also Ghana’s Giberky, Otudeon, emerging designer Jessica Baah, Nigeria’s Moofa, Rouge Vallari, Zimbabwean designer Portia Mwanaka and her label Killian de Burgh and our very own Ella and Gabby dazzles with rich colors and amazing embellishments. Some leading labels such as Zizi Cardow also dazzled the runway and appearances from top model Naomi Campbell. While the event was covered by CNN, TVC and many more international networks, sponsored by GLO. one word that describes this event? RICH !
Thanks to AFWL for sending out pictures from the event.
ZANDY B Designs
Not just every designer can do some epic sh*t like Steve did at this show. While his models strutted in his hand painted designed dresses, he drew on one of them and she walked closing his show. AMAZING
and the ever vibrant ZIZI CARDOW
For a very long time, i felt like African designers rarely brought African spunk to the runway besides through print, it would be an offensive lie to say i am not blown by the exceptional display of African flair and vibe at this event. Kudos to the designers for representing and serving it! High time the world saw us as the diverse INSPIRATIONAL continent we are.
